Minimal Makeup Look

Okay so the UK has been having the craziest heatwave at the moment so that last thing you want it a tonne of makeup on your face. After playing around for a while, I have finally found my perfect minimal makeup look. For the days where you are heading out and want to put a little bit of effort in, but you don’t want to sweat it off.

1. Primer
Primer is so important and I can’t stress this enough, particularly in this heat! It will make sure that your makeup will last a long period of time and stay looking fresh. I love the ‘Makeup Forever Step 1 Hydrating Primer’. Although it is a little on the pricey side, it does do its job. I apply this with my hands as if it was a moisturiser and it works a treat at keeping my makeup on and keeping me looking a-okay!

2. Base
So don’t want a thick coating of foundation, but you do want a hint of coverage? Look no further, I have found the loveliest product that will do the trick. The Nars Tinted Moisturiser is the best for this. I love this around this time of year as it’s super lightweight on the skin and looks quite natural. Although it is a little expensive for a tinted moisturiser, it’s definitely worth it.

3. Brows
I always use the same product for my brows and that is the NYX Precision Brow Pencil. This just makes my brows bushy but also shaped nicely. I prefer to use the colour ash brown as this matches the roots of my hair perfectly.

4. Bronzer
Bronzer is one of my favourite parts of my makeup routine as I feel it really pulls the makeup together. My favourite to use is the Makeup Forever Pro Bronze Fusion. This gives a lovely bronzed glow and subtly contours your face.

5. Eyes
My favourite eyeshadow palette at the moment is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette as it’s very versatile, I can create a really subtle eye look with this but can also go quite dramatic. The colours are nicely pigmented and also blend out really well.

6. Mascara
I feel like my lashes aren't the longest so mascara is an important step in my makeup routine. I love the Benefit They’re Real mascara as this lengthens and gives volume to my lashes with the help of some lash curlers.

7. Highlight
Highlighter is one of my favourite parts of my makeup routine as it really makes you glow! The one I’ve been using day in day out for months is the MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle. It gives a really natural glow but is build able so can be blinding! It’s such a gorgeous champagne bronze colour and complements any skin tone.

8. Lipstick.
I’m a sucker for a nude lipstick and my favourite it the Charlotte Tilbury Nude Kate. It is a gorgeous peachy nude with a shimmer and it complements my skin so well. It is my favourite nude of all time, I will definitely be repurchasing this soon as i’m getting through it rather quickly.

These products seem do be doing the trick at the moment for making me look good in the hot weather. Are any of these any of your favourite products? Do you have any other products that you’ve been using recently? Let me know in the comments!

Lots of Love

A Weekend In Amsterdam

For my 18th Birthday present off my mum, I was lucky enough to be treated to a long weekend in Amsterdam with my Mum, Auntie, Uncle, Godsister (ChloĆ©) and her boyfriend (Tim) which is a place I have always wanted to visit. We went for 4 days at the beginning of April and it was a dream! Unfortunately I’m now sat back in dreary England but by writing this I am reminiscing on the most wonderful weekend! Here are some snaps from the weekend for you to have a nosey at!

On our first day, we arrived in Amsterdam at 9am and once we’d left the airport and arrived at the hotel, we dropped our bags off and headed out exploring. We walked for miles to check out the area... We actually did 20,000 steps that day!

We then went for some drinks at a pub and chilled out till dinner time where we went to a lovely Italian in the Jordaan area.

On day 2, we spent the morning on a canal trip, which was probably the highlight of the holiday. It was just so lovely to cruise along the canal taking in the sights in the sunshine.

We then moved on to the Rejig museum... which wasn’t quite my thing if I’m honest, but it was interesting to see it all anyway!

Next up on the agenda was the Heineken Experience which was really interesting to see how all the Heineken beer is made and produced. Although I am not the avid beer drinker myself, it was nice to see everyone else have a good time and drink my free beers too!

That evening, we got a taxi to a food hall which was amazing! It was a huge hall which consisted of so many food stands all with different cuisine types, Mexican, Indian, Italian, Sushi and more! And also desserts including frozen yoghurt and cakes! There was also a Gin and Tonic bar!

I indulged in a sweet potato veggie burrito and some nachos which we all shared, then I also had a few bits of vegetable sushi too! It was all so incredibly delicious and definitely my favourite meal of the weekend!

Day 3 took us to Keukenof which was such a lovely day! We saw hundreds and hundreds of tulips and other flowers including orchids and lilies!

I even spotted a frozen yoghurt stand which I obviously had to have one!

Once we arrived back from Keukenof we headed up the A’dam Tower, which we saw all across the top of Amsterdam. It was so wonderful and the weather was glorious - it reached 22 degrees when we were up there which was so lovely!

For dinner, we hadn’t planned where we were going so we searched around and ended up back in the lovely Jordaan area and went to a place called Seasons which was amazing! I had vegetable risotto which was delicious and very much enjoyed after a long tiring day!

Day 4 was our final day in Amsterdam but luckily our flight wasn’t till late on in the evening so we still had a whole day left in the city. I found a lovely pancake house when researching about Amsterdam so I decided for one breakfast that we would all go there. This pancake house was called Mook Pancakes, and the breakfasts were delicious. I had my pancakes with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and banana with a tiny drizzle of maple syrup. I also had a pear juice with it which was really refreshing in the morning!

We then all headed on the tram to Dam square to have a look around as we hadn’t been before. I liked it there as it seemed quite a quirky place. Next, me and my mum got on the tram to Museumplaine to go to the Banksy Exhibition which I thoroughly enjoyed. While we looked around there, the rest of the group went to the Body World Museum but that didn’t really take my fancy!

After we finished at the museums, we all got back together and travelled to Rembrandt Square for a drink which consisted of beer, coffee and hot chocolate... any guesses which one I had!

Chloe had done lots of research for the trip and had found 1 of the 9 windmills in Amsterdam, and just outside was such a quirky little pub which served flights of beer and we all enjoyed some cheese and everyone else, the sausage!

After this we all wondered back to the hotel to collect our cases and head to the airport!
Here is where we said goodbye to ChloƩ and Tim as they flew to Wales and we were flying to Essex.

Sadly, this is where the birthday trip to Amsterdam ended! I had the best weekend which the most wonderful people and I couldn’t have wished for more. I want to thank my mum... again, for giving me the best birthday gift ever and I will be forever grateful, love you lots Mummy!

New Year, new...

I’m not one for new years resolutions because why should you need an excuse to improve or change things, realistically, new years is just another day, like any other, so it’s never too late for change and NEVER use the excuse of ‘I’ll try again next year’. However, there are some things that I would like to put in place over the next few months to help and improve myself and my mental wellbeing, so I will be sharing these with you.

  • Make time for myself
I have a very busy schedule most of the time and find that I don’t have many nights in, I’m either at work, at college, or doing college work. My weeks are the same, they just roll around and I carry on in my rotating bubble, however I do often finding myself becoming tired very easy, due to not having much time for myself. My Mondays and Tuesdays consist of me completing my college work, on Wednesday I’m at college then work in the evening, all of Thursday and Friday morning, I am still at college then Friday evening rolls round and its work. The weekend flies by with me working pretty much all of it. It’s a busy schedule where I don’t often spend enough time with my friends and family… and me. On the 3 evenings I do have free I need to make sure I don’t waste them. Get all my work things done in the day so I have time to socialise with friends in the evening, or just sit on the sofa with my mum and catch up on the day.

  • Get back into fitness
My time for fitness has disappeared, just like it has for myself so this goes hand in hand with my last point. I want to get to a point where I am happy with my fitness levels and happy with how my body looks because of it. At the moment, I’m far far from it. This is because with the time I do have, I don’t use productively. Fitness is such a great thing mentally and most of the time I say, ‘urgh I can’t be bothered’, which bugs me because when I do work out or run, I never regret it after. I need to sort out a weekly schedule and add in exercise so that it becomes a regular thing and not a one off chore. I actually really enjoy excising and have always loved working out but fitting it into my life is the hardest part. I need to join a gym, so that I have a reason to go, my reason will be that I am paying for it so I have to!

  • Use my phone less
As a nation, we are constantly on our phones, whether thats on Snapchat, Instagram or Twitter, we are still looking down at a screen and are missing the things happening around us. Although phones are great and help me with many things, I need to take some time out now and again. With social medias there comes a lot of pressures on image, which is something I struggle with. Also everyone makes out that they have something which we may not recognise which is a ‘perfect life’. I know, I know, who knew that was a thing! But I need to concentrate on my life more than theirs, and for a fact, I know that theirs is not perfect, but we all like it to look that way. But what I’m saying is that I need to focus on other stuff more than what some celebrity has posted on Instagram!

  • Be more positive
Generally I am quite a negative person, and I can easily get myself in a sad, depressed mindset, so I’d really like to improve my mindset so that it’s a little more positive than depressing. I know that this would really help my mental wellbeing and help me become more motivated. I know that if I try then it will really make a different on my outlook on life.

What are your goals over the next few months? Are they the same as mine? Let me know in the comments below, I’d love to know what kind of things you’ll be improving about yourself!

Lots of Love
